One Year Bible Reading Plan 2024 (Free Download)
Each new year, I get excited about all that God will speak to me through His Word! For almost two decades now, I’ve been doing this one-year Bible reading plan that engages a Bible reading strategy called S.O.A.P.
Jesus said that a life built on knowing and obeying God’s Word is a life well built on a steady and unshakable foundation! Too many lives are thrown around by the winds of life because of building on sand rather than the solid Rock of Jesus’ Words!
The Bible is the perfect and unchanging Word of God! When we dive into the Word, it transforms us, and it changes the world through us as we apply it! If you’re like many, getting a consistent Bible reading plan and strategy is difficult, but if you embrace this plan and strategy, I know it will accelerate your life and connection with God!
I’m going to give you the S.O.A.P. reading plan that I first got from Pastor Wayne Cordaro. Then, you’ll also have different ways to engage the reading plan through YouVersion, digital download, or the Following Jesus Jouranl.
To maximize your Bible reading, use an annual reading plan connected with the Bible study approach using the acronym S.O.A.P. First, you’ll want to select a Bible reading plan. I’d recommend a plan that has you read through the whole Bible in a year. I created a 365 Following Jesus reading plan that I use and recommend. This is available on the YouVersion Bible App (which is what I use) It’s a great plan that will have you read a selection from the Old Testament, New Testament and a Psalm or Proverb. You’ll love it! As you read daily, use this acronym to help you apply God’s Word to your life.
S = SCRIPTURE As you’re reading, look for one verse that really sticks out to you. If a verse jumps out to me, I will circle the verse number or copy the verse off my phone and paste it into my notes so I can go back to it later. After you’re done reading, either write the one verse at the top of your page or paste it into your page.
O = OBSERVATION Now, it’s time to take a few moments to write down your observations about that specific verse. What do you see? What do you feel God is saying to you about it? What seems to be the point of the verse?
A = APPLICATION Now, write down how you will apply this to your life. Ask yourself, “How will I be different after reading this verse?”
P = PRAYER Write out a prayer to God for the day and relate it to the verse you’ve just been reading.
I’m excited to hear from you as you engage in the reading plan. Here’s a direct digital download of the reading plan for free. It’s also on YouVersion, and the plan is in the Following Jesus Journal.
It’s vital also to remember not to get caught up approaching your Bible reading in a religious way. We don’t read the Bible to make God love us; we read the Bible to learn how much He truly loves us!
Remember also to ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you and open up His Word to you as you read it daily! God is ready and wants to speak to you each and every time you open up His Word!
