We Need a Revival of God's Word in 2015
As last year ended I was spending some time in prayer for 2015 and asking God what he wanted me to focus on and encourage people with in this new year. I felt the Holy Spirit say, "call for a revival of God's Word."I couldn't be happier about a word like that because there is nothing more transformational than seeing people engage God through His word. We don't truly come alive until God's word lives in us. There is also nothing that our world needs more right now than greater understanding and application of God's word. The Bible isn't just a history book about a religious group called Christians, it's the collective words of God masterfully delivered to us. While the Bible does provide great and accurate historical accounts, part of the problem with many Christians is that we approach the Bible as just a history book about God rather than a true conversation with God.
For the word of God is alive and active. (Hebrews 4:12 NIV)
Many of the challenges that you and I face on a daily basis are due to lack of knowing and following God's word. I'm not saying that all challenge or pain can be avoided but most people experience unnecessary difficulty in life because God's word is not active in their lives.
My prayer this year is that in my life and yours, we would:
Stir up a fresh love for God and his word
Restore our respect for God's word and it's place in our lives
Have greater application of God's word in our daily lives
I'd really love your input:I know that for many people, reading and applying God's word can be difficult. So I'd love to be able to encourage and provide as much help as I can. So please comment on this post or on my facebook post what your biggest challenges have been with reading, understanding or applying what the Bible says? All throughout this year I'll be speaking and writing on this topic of a revival of God's word and would love to offer some helpful tips based on your comments. Before I do end this initial challenge I do want to be sure that you have heard of the YouVersion Bible App. It will be one of the most helpful tools for you on this journey. You can visit the website or go and download it in your app store.I'll close with this great verse and promise of Peace from the Bible:
Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. (Psalm 119:165 NIV)
