Who will speak up?

When Godly men and women are silent— evil runs unchecked!

We see this right from the beginning in the Garden of Eden. There’s an exchange between the Serpent and Eve, and finally, the devil tricks Eve into eating the fruit but notice where Adam was.

“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.” — Genesis 3:6 NIV

Notice that Adam appears to be near Eve, yet there are no recorded words from Adam. Why? Where was Adam when evil was trying to corrupt innocence? That was his moment to speak up and step in between the devil and Eve, but he stayed silent.

Sadly this is the case with most Christians in today’s culture; we’ve been positioned for impact, but we’re silent. Is it a risk to speak up? Yes, could it cause drama? Is it inconvenient? Potential yes to all those questions, but it’s worth a little discomfort to protect those we love from the lies and deception of the devil.

We don’t have to be mean or harsh with our words to those caught in sin, but if we love them, we must speak up and speak the truth. The harshest words should be reserved for those going after our kids and families with the intent to corrupt and harm and grace shown to those being manipulated by them.
