A theme prayer & desire of my life
With father’s day coming up I was thinking about my dad when I read a familiar verse in Proverbs. This verses lesson is one I can remember As a child my dad impressing on my heart & mind.
A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. (Proverbs 22:1 NIV)
My dad owned and still runs his own Construction company. And my dad knew the power of a good name. When he was done with a costumers home improvement he didn't just say thx for the check & hope it all works out.He wanted to be sure the job was done right. So he had a policy if I didn't get it right the first time I'll come back and fix it on my own dime until its done right and the customer was 100% satisfied.
This passion for excellence and integrity got him "a good name" and it has served him and our family well to this day. Customers over the years even came up with a slogan, they would say "Let George Do it!".
A good question to ask ourselves would be, what are the people we interact with us and/or our business saying about us? Are they saying "Let (your name) Do it" or "Have anyone else but (your name) do it!"In your life, work or play be mindful of the name you have. Don't take the attitude of "I don't care what people think of me".
That's foolish, how your perceived is huge and Solomon says your name/reputation is more valuable than Gold!
Huge thanks to my dad for the many sound bible-based life-lessons over the years. Your passion for God and his purpose was contagious and a key reason why I do what I do today! Thank you, and I love you! Happy Fathers day!
