My wife and I are coming up on 20 years of marriage! This is why we wrote a new book on the 12 marriage safeguards! Within that book, one of the safeguards for our marriage is around communication. There’s a lot to be said on this topic, but one of the keys we’ve found is adding a weekly marriage meeting or coffee break to your routine. This isn’t your date night but is the secret we’ve found to make our date nights way more fun, enjoyable, and romantic.
That’s why I’m making the marriage meeting agenda available as a free download. This is a modified version of what I first received from my friends Dr. Matt and Mikala Hubbard. And I’d encourage you to edit and modify this for your marriage meetings. This is just a suggestion to get you going.
The overall premise, which I explain more in the book, is that this meeting is essential, just like meeting with your team is key in any business. If you try to lead a great company but never meet with your team, it will fail; in the same way, this marriage meeting has a way of keeping your family moving forward in health and strength. Also, this meeting will add more quality time to your marriage while you’re working through the key items of your marriage. Dealing with budget questions, vacations, kid issues, family dynamics, house, goals, issues in your marriage, and more.
You can be real specific with the agenda, or you can be more lose about that meeting, but the key is to create a space to talk about the key house keeping details of your marriage and family.
